Bea Carpenter, a long-time resident of San Luis Obispo, peacefully passed away in August 2023 surrounded with family. She was born and raised in Santa Monica, California where she attended Nora Sterry Elementary and University High School in West Los Angeles. After graduating from high school, she worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft as a file clerk. She eventually made her way to the central coast where she met the love of her life, Robert Carpenter. She held various jobs but most notably, she worked at the County Office of Education for 16 years, followed by a job with the County Health Department as an audiologist visiting elementary schools giving hearing tests.
Bea loved to travel, garden, and be around her family and friends. She spent many, many hours sitting in her garden with a daily morning popsicle. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Cindy McConaghay, and grandson Christopher Brown. She is survived by her son, Robert Duarte, daughter Lydia Anderson (Bob), grandchildren Jenny Sebring, Jessica Winstead, Cindy Baker (Brenden), Nicky Duarte, Erin Doerner (John), Matt Anderson (Karlie), and 12 great grandchildren: Ryder, Justin, Dylan, Zin, Jacey, Jamison, Rykken, Jamie, Brenden Jr., Geyorgie, Domonique and Jasmine. She also had numerous great friends, but her dear friends Sandy Sherer and Carol Grosse, supported her and spent many hours with her later in life. While she loved her family, her dachshund Sophie, was her pride and joy who brought her years of love, entertainment, and puppy licks.
