He was born on January 8, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky to parents, Robert Carr & Juanita Rose Durbin. Louie served his nation with honor in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He served abroad for a tour including Korea. He served as a Specialist 4, with specialized training with the Hawk Missile and Crewman, transporting Missiles and other artillery. During his military service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and was a Sharp Shooter with the M-14 Rifle. He also served with the United States Army Pacific Service Component Command and Joint Task Force. Louie was a retired employee from G.E. where he worked on the assembly line retiring after 42 years. He had a passion for Pepsi Cola, was an avid collector and loved to garden. He loved to grow vegetables and many different flowers, his favorite being Sunflowers. He was also a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church, The Brotherhood and AMVETS Post 1.
His parents, Robert Carr & Jaunita Rose Durbin, precede Louie in his passing.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Chris Carr; children, Leah Vitzenty & Jeffrey Brian; 2 – grandchildren, Joseph Vitzenty & Lauren Beecham; 2 – great – grandchildren; 3 – brothers & 6 – sisters, Bobby, David, Marvin, Margaret, Betty, Mary, Juanita, Kathy & Joyce; many nieces & nephews; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Eternal Love in the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums. Visitation will be held also on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
