Alice H. Peden

Alice H. Peden, 89, of Louisville, passed away on October 13, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 13, 1923 in Hopkinsville, KY and was a 1942 graduate of Pembroke High School. On June 29, 1944 she married Harlin Donald Peden, the next door neighbor and the "boy of her dreams". She was a devoted homemaker, wife and amazing mother to four boys. "Miss Alice" was a true Christian and inspiration to thousands. She was known for her humble service, genuine friendship and generosity. Along with her husband she was the co-founder of the Louisville Church of Christ and generously supported ministries around the world. She was a gracious host, superb cook, avid gardener and puzzle solver.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Harlin Donald; her four sons, Mark, Greg (Shirleen), Scott (Susan), David (Ann) Peden; ten grandchildren, Tony and Todd Hollingsworth, Pete (Deena) Peden, Rachael (Don) Mazin, Jesse (Valere) Peden, Jordon Peden, Cassandra Rush, Christy (Jeff) Poole, Elizabeth Peden, Brook ,Chance and Trace Peden; five great-grandchildren, Caydence and Bo Mazin, Aubree Peden, Lilly and Ella Poole; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Louisville Church of Christ, 1201 S. 4th Street, Louisville, KY 40203, with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum to follow. A visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 17 th from 4-8 p.m. Miss Alice will lie in state at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
