Alta Mae Ballard, 82, of Louisville, passed away at her daughters home, surrounded by family, on the afternoon of January 14, 2012. She was the former Alta Dean and a homemaker. Alta was a member of Evangel World Prayer Center, loved to cook and spend time with her precious grand and great-grandchildren. She was known to love to "shop till she dropped", which always brought a smile to her face.
Predeceded in death by her parents, William Herschel and Lillis Goff Dean; her loving husband of 48 years, Edgar E. Ballard Jr., and her son, Edgar E. Ballard III.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy (Danny) Dillander; sister, Louise Singleton; brothers, Filson (Carol), Randy (Shirley) and David (Cathy) Dean; grandchildren, Daniel Dillander and Jackie (Marty) DeZarn; great-grandsons, Malachi Mudd and Isaiah DeZarn.
Alta's Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
