Dear Tammy & Alan...the loss of your Mom & Dad is never easy & they're especially missed during the holidays..keep memories close to your hearts & speak of them often to grandbabies..new memories will be made & will only add to keeping them close..I'll always remember both your parents as sweet & gentle people who were true to their faith & loved their family with all the love in the world..keep close to one another & know you have angels to continue to watch over you & guide you when you need them..not a day goes by that my parents don't enter my life..just imagine celebrating Christmas in heaven!! Love to you all!!

It is with a heavy and broken heart that I make this entry.  Alyce was so much more than an aunt to me.  She was my second mother, my confidant, my prayer partner and my best friend.  She was sixteen years old when I was born.  My father was stationed on Guam so mother and I lived with my precious grandmother and her two sisters, Mary Louise and Alyce.  The bond between Alyce and myself was formed at that time.  I had the wonderful privilege of living with a precious mother, two of the most wonderful aunts', a loving grandmother and great grandmother.   I talked to her just before Thanksgiving and we both stated that we wished we lived closer to each other.  I have an empty place in my heart, but I rejoice knowing Alyce is now with the Lord, Thurman and family she loved so dearly.  She missed her sisters so much and after Thurman went to be with the Lord she was so lonely.  She loved her children unconditionally.  Susan, so many times she would say she didn't know how they(she and Thurman) would make it without you.  I know you did all in your  power to be there for your parents and attend to their needs and/or wants.  Judy, Alan, Susan and Bobby there was a special place in her heart for each of you.  I love each  of you and lift you up in prayer.  I ask the Lord to comfort you and give you peace.  Rest in the assurance that you can see your mother and father again.  "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints".  Psalms 116:15.

Alan and Tammy, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of loss. Try to think of Thurman and Alyce spending Christmas together!

Susan, you and your family are held in my heart. How blessed your mother has been to have you as her daughter. Please know that prayers and caring thoughts are wrapping you tightly.

There are no words to lesson your grief at losing your mom. You have been the most thoughtful and devoted of daughters in life.  I know she will live in your memories and in your heart. Those bright blue eyes will watch over you as they always have.

Well the last entry I had to make earlier this year was when papaw passed away.  It was snowing out that day and I knew that papaw was in good hands and that was his sign of showing me that he was happy.  Well today I look out and it is sunny and a lot warmer than it has been lately.  I guess this is Grannys way of saying that everything is ok and she is sitting on a bench next to papaw with both of their families they have not seen in years.  My grandmother was the sweetest lady that anyone would meet.  She was so caring and loving of other people.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to all in her family.  This is how great of a grandmother she was to me, is when I was little, it didn't matter what it was, if I wanted something, she would try her dearest to make it happen for me.  From being able to miss school on a Monday to stay out at their house, to a toy that I wanted, to making those nutmeg cookies and letting me help put the icing on them even though I made a mess and ate most of the icing before it made it to the cookies.  I have countless memories of dragging a small mattress into the kitchen while she was cooking and laying there watching her cook til I fell asleep.  Even though I was in the way, it didn't bother her and I never seen her get mad or upset.  If I had a problem or was upset, she had this way of getting you calm and even though she wouldn't say anything, just knowing that she was there to listen always made you feel better.  Ill miss sitting at her house with her in the dining room during winter watching the snow fall on the fin castle apartments across the street.  
I am so thankful that I had her in my life as long as I did.  Thankful for having this caring, loving, compassionate woman to watch me grow and help guide me in the right directions when sometimes I may have swerved off the road a little.  I thank her for everything she has done for me and my family.  Seeing her take my own son into her heart like she did with me when I was little.  My only regrets is not being able to spend as much time with her as I should have like I did when I was a child, and letting her see her great grandchild as much as we both would have liked.  I love you granny, and you are going to be missed dearly.  You and papaw will forever have a secret spot in my heart and neither will be forgotten.  Until we meet again, I love you and God rest you soul.   Love, Chris
