Archie was born in Ottawa, Kansas on September 30, 1930. In October of 1948, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard Thunderbirds 45th Infantry Division and in August of 1950 entered active military service, serving his country in the Korean War for two years. As a young man, he worked in the photoengraving profession, leaving that in the mid 60’s to sell insurance in Kentucky. He built the Arch White Insurance Agency over many years and late in his career, sold it to join Jefferson County Public Schools as a school bus driver. Archie enjoyed people and often drove tour buses for Toby tours on the side.
Arch loved to fish off his pontoon at Taylorsville Lake and would cook fish any day for the crowds at the cabin at Cumberland. He loved cooking and certainly loved to eat that amazing food. Before he passed, he was noted saying “Bring on the Pie!” Archie never met a stranger, loving everyone unconditionally. He was the best husband, father, and grandpa that you could ever imagine.
Archie is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty Jane (Postlewait) White, 3 children, Carla Denham (Ricky), Diana Eades (Erik), and Steven (Lee Ann); 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Shouse (Paul), Ricky Denham, Jr. (Nichole), Briana Eades, Melissa Blandford (John), Tyler White (Katie), and Erin Compton (Daniel); 10 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and his brother’s son Jimmy (Dianne).
A Memorial Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025, from 3pm – 7pm EST at Evergreen Funeral Home at 4623 Preston Highway in Louisville, Kentucky. At a later date, he will be interred with military honors at the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to:
