Barbara K. Braun

Barbara Kidwell Braun was born on June 7,1933; grew up on a farm and worked in the tobacco barns of Bracken County. She graduated with her teaching certificate from Union College and came to Louisville in 1963 where she taught in JCPS for 27 years. She died on October 23, 2024 at the age of 91.

She was a devoted member of several United Methodist Churches including; Germantown UMC, Beechmont UMC and Epworth UMC. She joined the ADK International Sorority for Women Educators in 1965 and was a current member of the KY Alpha Theta Chapter.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 43 years EK (Kenny) Braun and his son Marty Braun; sister Betty Kidwell and parents Myrte and Avery Kidwell.

She is survived by sister Linda Aubrey (Bob); brother William Kidwell (Suzanne); son in law, Mike Braun (Kaye); daughter in law, Debbie Braun; grandchildren, Amy Smith (Chad), Andy Braun (Kim), Amanda Faulkner (John), Brett Braun (Brittany); niece, Laura Jones (Stuart); nephews, Chuck Hedgecock (Karen) and Will Kidwell; Great grand children, great niece and great nephews also survive her.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40258. The funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 29 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. The burial will take place in Wedonia Cemetery in Weedonia, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Epworth United Methodist Church, Louisville KY or Hospice of Louisville.
