Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Rose Hurst.
Here to carry on her memory is her adoring husband of 46 years, James Dowdell; and her sister Molly Hunter (James B. "Barney").
Barbara retired after 32 years of working for LG&E as a Switchboard Operator. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending to her yard, reading, traveling, going to the Lakeside Swim Club, and listening to country music.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218, with a funeral service in Barbara's honor beginning at 2:00 PM. Barbara will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 101 Bullitt Lane #208, Louisville KY 40222; or Palliative Care at Baptist East, 4000 Kresge Way, Louisville KY 40207.
