Barbara Ann Nelson

Barbara Ann Nelson, age 87, passed away on January 22, 2026. She was born on May 19th 1938, to James and Irene (Crabbe) Harris in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Barbara was a member of Cooper Memorial Methodist church in Louisville, Kentucky and worked for many years in the office typing and printing each Sunday's program. She retired from Norton Healthcare, where she worked in the billing department until her retirement at age 75. Her favorite pastimes included traveling, fine dining, and dancing with her late husband Jim up until his passing in 2022. However, Barbara’s lifetime passion was her family. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, James S. Nelson; her brother, James “Buzz” Harris, Jr., along with many other treasured family members.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Mark Durbin (Kimberly) and Clay Durbin (Joy); her grandchildren, Cameron Durbin (Mackenzie), Brandon Brooks, Becca Harris (Aric), Dane Durbin, and Jenna Durbin; her brother, Steve "Uncle Steve" Harris; her nieces, Stephanie Rockey and Allison Meuse; along with numerous other family and friends.

A visitation for Barbara will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the same location the following day on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery along side her beloved husband, Jim Nelson.
