passed away on February 9th, 2026.
Barbara Ann Brown Strotman was born August 17th, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky to George E. Brown Jr. and Lucille Platt Brown. She was a devout Catholic by faith and graduated from Ursuline Academy. Barbara married the love of her life, Donald R. Strotman Sr. on May 4, 1957.
Barbara, was known by most, as Mema. A name from which she took great pride and joy in. She loved her family deeply, and devoted her whole life to her family and her home. Her unwavering love and devotion made her an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and homemaker.
Barbara’s “home away from home” was at Rough River Lake. There she enjoyed spending time with her family, relaxing, fishing, boating, and sitting by the campfire. She loved making memories throughout the years babysitting her grandchildren, traveling with her husband & family, playing Bingo, and playing Bunco with her dearest friends for over 30 years. Barbara loved to dance. Along with her husband, they were the life of every party, and loved dancing the night away. Often times being the last ones to leave the many celebrations they attended.
Barbara had a great love for gardening, and was an excellent cook. Not only did she have 8 children to feed, everyone was always welcomed to her dinner table. Because of this, she always knew how to stretch a dollar, and turned ordinary ingredients from her garden, into extraordinary cuisines. She was also a University of Louisville Cardinal fan, and loved watching games with her family. Barbara was a remarkably strong, kind, and loving woman, who also knew how to get a laugh out of her family, with one lift of a finger.
Barbara’s marriage to her husband, Don, for over 68 years is exceptionally rare, and a true testament of the love, commitment, and devotion they shared. They kept the promise they made to one another, that above all else, choose love.
Our beloved Mema will be deeply missed, and we will cherish her memory in our hearts forever. Her love and commitment to her family is unmatched. Along with her soulmate, they built a family legacy filled with unconditional love, kindness, and friendship, that will live on for generations to come.
We as a family would like to collectively thank Regency Care Center, who called her "Mema", for taking such great care of Barbara while in their care.
