Betty J. Grantz

Betty was born in Madison, IN on March 7, 1924.

She graduated from nursing school at the old St. Joseph's Infirmary in Louisville. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Parish for 56 years and was a longtime member of the Beechmont Women's Club and South Park Country Club where she enjoyed golf, bridge and poker with many past and present friends. Betty also loved to travel. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her large family which included 10 children, 20 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and daughter-in-law, Susan.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Claussen (Gary), Mildred Lewis (Kenny), Susan (Bo LeMastus); her sons, Charles "Butch" (Linda), Mike, James (Teresa), Robert (Brenda), William (Julie), John (Jackie) and Steve (Lesia). She also leaves 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass will be on Monday, August 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Highway, with burial in St. Michaels Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 8519 Preston Highway.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Nazareth Home, St. Vincent DePaul or Kosair Charities.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Oaklawn Health and Rehab Center, Shelbyville Rd., for the care she was given over the last year.
