Carolyn Mae (Carter) Smith, 68, of Louisville, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Norton Women's and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, less than 24 hours before her beloved Husband, John.
Born on Friday, May 4, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, Carolyn was the daughter of the lates, Calvin C. Carter, Jr. and Bonnie May Weber. She was a member of the St. Rita Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and a retired Respiratory Therapist with Jewish Hospital. She loved to craft and quilt, as well as baking and canning. She was a loving mother and sister, having a deep devotion to her family.
Besides her parents, Calvin C. and Bonnie May Carter; her brother, Clayton Carter, precede Carolyn in her death. Her husband, John Timothy Smith, would follow her in passing less than 24 hours later.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Brian (Chrissy) Smith, Sarah (Trevor) Thornton and Anna (Steve) Phillips; granddaughter, Haley; sister, Barbara (Jack) Wissing; cousin, Vicki Sheppard; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; plus, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church in conjunction with services for John. Following the Funeral Mass, both John and Carolyn will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, where they will rest alongside each other for eternity.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel.
