He was born to the late Nelson Hampton and Cornelia Hogg in Bald Knob, West Virginia in 1939.
Charles enjoyed the great outdoors. Especially, camping, fishing, and boating at Green River Lake. He loved to garden at his former home in Taylorsville, KY and had many flowers at his patio home in Louisville. Charlie was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan who enjoyed tailgating and going to many football games. After retiring from Ford Motor Company (KTP) of 31 years, he and Sally went to Florida for many years. They both enjoyed retirement, taking many trips with friends and family. Charlie cherished his grandchildren and was most proud in becoming "Papaw".
Here to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Sally Amburgey Hampton, children; Jeff Hampton and Scott Hampton (Denise), four grandchildren; Hunter, Danielle, Brennan, and Kyle, along with many friends and family.
Visitation will occur on Tuesday, January 30th from 10-12PM, with a celebration of Charlie's life to follow in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home at 12PM. Charlie will be laid to rest within Resthaven Memorial Park.
Any memorial expressions can be made to the Home of Innocents.
