He was a retired aircraft mechanic for UPS for 28 years, a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War, and a member of Beechmont Presbyterian Church. As a street rod enthusiast, he loved working on his old cars and was past president and member of the Okolona Street Rod Association.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Herschel Underwood.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dee Underwood; his daughters, Tabbatha Chesler (Rick) and Lyndsey Underwood; his grandson, Finn Benjamin Chesler; his mother, Mayme Knapper; his sister, Faye Underwood; two stepchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held noon Friday, November 11, 2011 at Beechmont Presbyterian Church, 417 W. Ashland Ave, Louisville, KY 40214. Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
