Clara Mae Burd (Blessinger) age 89 was born in Ireland, Indiana (Dubois County) on March 22, 1929 to the late Lawrence and Clara (Werner) Blessinger. Clara was retired from South Central Bell with 31 years of service, and a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church since 1949, and the altar society. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Sts. Simon & Jude senior club. Clara was an avid quilter and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years of marriage, S. Coleman Burd; and a sister, Virginia Vollmer. Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughter In-laws, Wayne Burd (Denise) and Keith Burd (Carol); grandchildren, Nicole Summers (Travis), Jenni Bomar (Matt), Megan Burd Newman (Benton) and Kaitlyn Burd (Greg Markowitz); great grand children, Kaley, Austin, Kenzie, and Caiden. A funeral mass of celebration for Clara will be held at 10 am Wednesday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3509 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. from 2-8 pm on Tuesday. Memorial gifts may be made to her church.
