

Donald Wesley Spain, 83, of Louisville, passed away April 4, 2023. He was retired from Johnson Controls and Inland Packaging. He helped start the night program and was a naturalist at Bernheim Forest. He was a former chairman of the Louisville Astronomical Society, and he authored The Six Inch Lunar Atlas. Don was an artist, astronomer, naturalist, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He had a thirst for knowledge and unbreakable faith in the Lord. His compassion, kindness and generosity while sharing his time and talents with others has forever made an impact.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Spain; brother, Carly Spain; infant sister, Bonnie Jean Spain; and his parents, Eugene and Sarah Spain. He is survived by his sister, Joy Spain Holder; brothers, Dennis Spain (Edna) and Michael Kelley (Susan McCoy); several nieces and nephews; a grand niece and nephews; his "adopted" daughter and granddaughter; his Bernheim family; and many other friends.

Memorial Services will be held at Bernheim in the Garden Pavillion, Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 6:30pm-8:30pm with a night hike following.
