

Doris Rose (Drexler) Crawford, 87, died peacefully at her home Monday, April 4, 2016 and went to be with her son Melvin and their Heavenly Father. Doris was born March 31, 1929 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Simon and Mayme (Koebel) Drexler. She is also preceded in death by her son, John Melvin Crawford, Jr. and her brother and his wife, Robert and Earlene Drexler. Doris has been married to the love of her life, John Melvine Crawford, Sr. for 67 years. During that time, Doris and John raised 8 wonderful children, Mary Marlene Saylor, Melvin (Linda), Diane Clark (Cary), David (Carla), Richard (Donna), Debra Linton (Charlie), Annette Nanney (Joe), and Mark; 23 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and brother, Jimmy Drexler (Dot).
Doris has been an active member of Holy Name Parish for 60 plus years where all 8 children worshiped and attended grades 1-8. She was also a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul soup kitchen. Along with husband John, Doris was a founder and active member of Wilder Park Neighborhood Assoc. She served on the board for over 25 years and was also co-leader of the Women’s Craft Class.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services Southern, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Louisville, Kentucky 40215. Her Funeral Liturgy will be 9:30 am Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church, 2914 S 3rd St., Louisville, Kentucky 40208 with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
