Mrs. McCloud was born in Island, Kentucky to the late Walter and Gertie Slinker. She was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School (Halleck Hall) and was also a retired proofreader for Gibbs Inman Printing Company.
Dorothy had a love for bingo and a passion for beading. She made beautiful Christmas tress, ornaments, snowmen and so much more, all made of beads!
Dorothy was a sweet lady who was a blessing to her family and friends. She loved God, never had an enemy and never judged anyone. She had an open heart for all she came in contact with. The world has definitely lost a treasure and her family will never forget her hugs, her laughter and her love.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin McCloud; siblings, James Slinker ,
Margie Morgan and her son, Michael E. Young.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cathy Karcher (Ed), Vickie Logsdon (Tim), and Linda Lanham (Jim); sister, Martha Logsdon; grandchildren, Michael E., Danielle, Trisha, Michael W., Rodney, Stephanie, Meeca, Tiffany, Shane, Richard, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and 2 soon to be born great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Essex Nursing and Rehab for the loving and compassionate care they offered Dorothy. She loved them all, especially her roommate Patty Rollie.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, 12 noon, at Evergreen Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
