Born in Red house, West Virginia to Daniel R. and Mary Holmes. Doyle passed peacefully on Mon. Jan. 5th at 7pm. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Barbara Holmes (Wulf); Siblings: Francis Jones; Mayme Maynard and Eleanor Matthews; 3 sons Doyle Farron Holmes, Darwin Franklin Holmes (Shirley); Doyle Franklin Holmes Jr., and stepchildren Suzanne Kay Wieland (David); and Michael Travis Wiseman (Tammy); 11 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Doyle retired after 20 years in the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star and numerous other metals and honors. Since retiring, he owned several service stations and transportation businesses. Doyle will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service is set for Saturday January 18th, 12 noon at the Evergreen Funeral Home. Family requests that any expressions of sympathy be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
