Earl Gordon Morrison

Earl G. Morrison, 86, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 8, 1929 to Hezzie Kiar and Celia Morrison (nee Carter) in Fountain Run, KY, and graduated from New Middletown High School in Southern Indiana. He served admirably as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from GE after 39 years of service.

Earl loved his church family and served as a Deacon of Becker Drive Missionary Baptist Church for nearly 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Brenda; granddaughter, Brittany; and six of his siblings.

Earl is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Jennie L. Morrison (nee Blakeman); his four children, Vicki Thomasson (Dennis), Gary Morrison, Mike Morrison (Becky), and Angie Morrison; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Ruby Elaine Russell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Earl’s Life will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit, at the funeral home, on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 2 pm to 8 pm.
