Eleanor was one of the classiest people I have known. I look back with fond memories of visiting her family. My sympathy goes to her children, with whom my sister and I spent fun-filled hours. Seeing Eleanor at the funeral home when my mother died was wonderful. She and Buddy were great friends of my parents. The world needs more people like her.

My husband and I and two young sons lived next door to Mr and Mrs Burkholder between 1989 and 1995.  During that time we gave birth to our second son and celebrated the boys early birthdays which Mr and Mrs Burkholder always attended.  We treasure those times and remember them both with special fondness.  We also had the honor of attending Eleanor's 80th birthday party at her home 20 years ago.  Such a special lady and role model.   She wil be missed greatly, especially in the Crescent Hill community.  Our heartfelt condolences to the entire Burkholder family.  Anne and Wayne Garvey

I enjoyed getting to know Eleanor through the Jeffersontown Garden Club in the last couple of years. What a wonderful long life she lived.

I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Eleanor in 2012 when I visited Louisville with Bill Burkholder, and again in 2013.  Despite the short time I spent with her, I was utterly impressed by her warmth, dignity and love of life; truly a woman full of grace. My condolences to her wonderful family and my regrets for being unable to attend the celebration of Eleanor's amazing life.

Eleanor was an always gracious, enthusiastic lover of roses.  Her great interest in sharing her rose knowledge.  She helped many members of the Louisville Rose Society.  She was an expert arranger and won many awards .  We were blessed to know her. Richard and Cheryl

Eleanor was a longtime member of the Louisville Rose Society.  She was very active in the club and on the board.  Eleanor loved her roses and her "rose buddies".  It was a privilege to know her and share her love of roses.

I was a classmate of her nephew, Bill Burkholder, Atherton class of 1960.  My condolences to the family on the loss of this marvelous woman.

I have wonderful memories of the Burkholder Family, Third Church and Luther League. We always had a good time when they were in charge.  She was a wonderful example for all of us and will be greatly missed.

Eleanor Burkholder was a wonderful woman; she was kind and generous and it was my privilege to know her. There is no question that she is with God now. My condolences to all of her family.
