Elizabeth Scherzer Greenwald passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 103. She was born in Louisville on December 24, 1922, to Arthur and Mary Generose Brown Scherzer, who had 9 children. Elizabeth married Charles J. Greenwald, and they had 4 children whom she devoted her adult life to, taking care of them, nurturing them, and endeavoring to make their lives happy.
Family members who passed before Elizabeth include her daughter Linda Rose, her parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include her sons, Charles Greenwald (Anne), and Robert Greenwald (Linda), her daughter Jennie Heflin, and her sister Rita Oppel. Grandchildren Jennifer Mansell (Ken), Jennifer Hanna (Scott), Theresa Shell (Jered), and Linda Saunders (Justin). Also 6 great-grandchildren with another on the way. She had numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved dog Missy.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 11am-2pm at Evergreen Funeral Home with a private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to KY Humane Society or Hosparus.
