

WATERS, Elmer D., 80, from Sadieville, passed away September 15, 2013. Elmer enjoyed fishing and travelling and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren; Michelle, Millicent, Misha, Alisha, Lacey, Ashley and Briana. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and especially loved the basketball team. Sgt. Waters was a decorated Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired as Staff Sargeant. Mr. Waters also retired from Henry Vogt Machine Company, in Louisville, KY. After his 2nd retirement, Sgt. Waters worked for several years at “Whatever It Takes” on Bluelick Rd. in Hillview and served as post Commander at Hillview Kentucky VFW Post. Sgt. Waters spent several years living in Orlando, FL and worked at Cermix while there. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Ruby Waters; three brothers, Buford “June” Waters, Jr., R.N. Waters, and Coleman Waters; and two sisters, Louise Tinnell and Nina Tinnell; and one stepson, Charles Edward Straub. Mr. Waters is survived by his wife, Stella Gill Waters, of Sadieville, KY; two stepsons, Hershel “Joe” Wilder (Lorie), of Sadieville, and William “Bill” Lee Napper (Candy) of Shepherdsville, KY; a stepdaughter, Mary Ernestine “Tina” Straub Craycraft of Maysville; a brother, Harold Waters of Clermont, KY; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. His funeral service will be on Thursday at noon at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 8519 Preston Highway, with interment to follow in the Kentucky Veteran Central Cemetery in Radcliff. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2pm until 9pm on Wednesday. Donations on behalf of Sgt. Waters can be made to Veterans Hospital Leestown Rd. Lexington, KY. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff of building 27 floor 2 for their incredible caring and compassion.
