Ernestine "Tene" A. Dorris, 92, of Louisville, went home to her heavenly father on Sunday, December 19, 2010, with her loving daughters by her side. She was the former Ernestine Austin, and a native of Bear Creek, Alabama. Having been a member for 60 years, she taught Sunday School at Farmdale Baptist Church for 40 of those years, and had a vast knowledge of Bible history. After retiring from General Electric, she led Farmdale's homebound ministry and delivered books to the homebound for the Public Library. Prior to that she taught school for several years in Alabama. Tene was a selfless and giving person, one who was always doing for others and never wanted anything in return. She was an avid reader, gardener and loved her family and grandchildren. Her daughters said she was the "Most wonderful Mom in the world".
She will be cherished by her family; daughters, Nancy Ottersbach (Steve) and Belita Noltemeyer (Norman); grandchildren, Ben Ottersbach, Kyle Noltemeyer (Hilary), Jennifer Velander (Doug); six great-grandchildren and sisters, Betty Harper and Dell Horsley (Troy).
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Farmdale Baptist Church.
