

He was born on April 11, 1934 to the late John Thomas Stewart and Martha Frances Click.
Originally from Clover Bottom in Jackson County, Kentucky, he moved to Louisville, Kentucky just after marrying Tommye Faye Johnson in December 1951. He worked at Kentucky Rural Electric his entire career. He retired as a foreman for the company. He and Tommye also owned a grocery store in the Portland area of Louisville during the 1960s.
Esmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working with wood. Several projects he completed were an acoustic guitar, banjo, gun cabinet, and a Grandfather clock.
Esmer was preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Tommye Faye (2021) and son, Frankie (2019).
Esmer is survived by his son, Elwood (Teresa); daughter-in-law, Sandy; grandchildren: Maranda, Weston, Mark, and Scott; great-grandchildren: Myleah, Marrissa, Tenzin, Ainsley, Nolan, and Lexy. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Lakes (Carl) and many numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Esmer will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. A funeral service will occur immediately after in the funeral home chapel. Esmer will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
