Born in Paris, Kentucky, on October 20, 1937, Eugene lived a fulfilling life that touched many. His final moments were spent in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by the love of his family.
Eugene proudly served his country in the Air Force for 21 years, a tenure that spoke to his dedication and patriotic spirit. After his service, he contributed significantly to his community through his time at Poplar Level Daycare. There, he became a father figure to countless children, offering stability and joy with his love for nurturing young lives.
A simple man at heart, Eugene's passions were his anchors in life. He adored his late wife, Joann Cook, with whom he shared 46 deeply loving years of marriage. Together, they crafted a lifetime of memories, now carried in the hearts of their children, David Cook (Grace) and Dean Cook (Kim), as well as their grandchildren, Nathan Cook (Ashley), Hannah Roof (Alex), and Abby Cook, and a cherished great-grandson, Jensen.
Basketball and old-time movies were among Eugene's favorite pastimes. He was devout in his faith, often found with a Bible in his hand, reflecting on the words that shaped his outlook on life. Eugene's humorous spirit was infectious; his favorite question, "How you doing tomorrow?" never failed to draw a smile or laughter.
His memory is also treasured by his loyal furry friend, Sammy, who provided him with constant companionship and joy. Eugene's mother, Ann Cook, his "once in a lifetime" love, Joann, and his daughter Kelley Dever preceded him in passing. His light, however, will continue to shine through his loving family and the many hearts he touched. Eugene Cook will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the laughter, love, and unwavering kindness he so freely shared.
A visitation for Eugene will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218, followed by a funeral service from 2:00PM.
