Eugene Joseph Ottersbach

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father, Eugene Joseph Ottersbach, age 84 of Louisville, Kentucky. Eugene returned to our heavenly father on May 1, 2023. He was born on April 8, 1939.

He was a retired house painter, Kentucky Colonel and most of all a loving father and a devoted husband. He was an avid runner and began running the first of his many marathons in his sixties and loved his U of L Cardinals. In addition, he owned multiple thoroughbred racehorses.

His loving wife Doris Jean(Flanagan) Ottersbach, parents, Jacob Ottersbach and Magdaline Mary (Hohlms) Ottersbach, son-in-law, James L. Hatchell Sr., 3 sisters and 6 brothers preceded Eugene in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Debbie J. McCorkle(Roger), Sharon Marie Hatchell, Cindy Kay Rectenwald(Paul), and Timothy Eugene Ottersbach(Amy); his long time running partners, niece and nephew Dale and Sandy Zanchi. He had 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren, brother, Cletus Ottersbach, along with a host of other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4pm-8pm at Arch L. Heady & Sons Funeral Home-Okolona. Visitation will also be Friday May 5, 2023 from 10am-12pm at Arch L. Heady and sons- Okolona, with a funeral service at 12pm. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society.
