Florence Mae Claghorn

Florence had been a long time resident of Cherry Village in Okolona where she and her family were surrounded by wonderful, caring neighbors. She retired from Brown and Williamson, and many co-workers became cherished lifetime friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Byron, her partner of 59 years; son Phillip; and nephew, Jeffrey McKinley.

Survivors include her sister, Anna E. "Libby" McKinley; nieces, Mary Spies, Lisa Liford, and Karen McKinley; nephews, Mark McKinley and Fred and David Siegel; and brother-in-law, Virgil McKinley.

Florence was a member of Okolona Christian Church, a community that provided supportive home and hospital visitations over the years.

Betty Logsden and special friend Jennifer Asher provided priceless care giving and companionship to Florence for years. The family appreciates the compassionate attention Florence received as a resident of Belmont Village Senior Living Communities.

Celebration of Florence's life will be noon Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and will also be available Thursday morning prior to the funeral service. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
