Frederick Joseph Smith Jr.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, September 22, 1937, Fred was the son of the late Frederick J. Smith, Sr. and Dorothy Aliene Reynolds. Fred was a truck driver for UPS. He served his nation with pride and honor in the United States Army. In Fred’s free time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and boating.

Besides his parents, Frederick J. and Dorothy Smith; his wife of 60 years, Eugenia “Jean” Denise Smith; son, Ronnie Gaddis; and sister, Norma Vanover precedes Fred in his passing.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rick Gaddis (Linda), Tony Smith; brother Richard Smith; grandchildren, Morgan Whitley, Brittany Duggan (Patrick), Chase Gaddis (Christine); great-grandchildren, Preston, Parker, Lillian, Quinn, Trinity, Autumn; sister – in – law, Norma Slone; and many loving friends and neighbors.

A Memorial Visitation for Fred will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 1pm until 7pm at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel, 8519 Preston Hwy 40219 with Military Honors performed at 3:30pm and a prayer service at 4:00pm. Cremation has been chosen per Fred’s wishes.
