
The family moved to De Queen, Arkansas when Howard was 3 months old. Howard spent his childhood in De Queen where a highlight was earning his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America and earned an Honor Medal with Crossed Palms for saving a life.
He lived in De Queen until he graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas with a BS in Chemistry and earned his MD from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Veterans Hospital in Memphis was where he worked his general surgery residency. Howard married Glenda Smith in 1958 and they were blessed with 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and one great grandson. In the early years of their marriage, they gave their lives to Christ which led to a calling to the mission field where they served as medical missionaries to the Ras al Khaimah, UAE. After returning to the States, they eventually moved to Russellville, Arkansas where he practiced medicine until 2005 when the Kimballs relocated to Collierville, Tennessee. They were members of Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, Tennessee. In 2019, Glenda and Howard moved to Louisville, Kentucky. Howard was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal fan.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda (Smith) Kimball; Ken (MaryJane) and Alan Kimball; Chris (Kelly), McKenzie (Zachary) White, and Macy Kimball; Cynthia (Clark), Carter McFerrin, and Lauren (Parker) Kerstall; David (Carrie), Shaffer (Cassie), Sara Caroline (Kerry) Jones, AnneMarie, Rebecca Grace (Dylan) and Crews Lindsay, Ian, and Knox Kimball; and Daniel (Deanna) and Bismark Kimball. He is also survived by a sister, Marietta Stroud, and 2 nieces. A graveside service will be held on July 12 at 9:00am at Henderson Cemetery.
A memorial service for Howard will be held on July 19th at 11:00am at The Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
