She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Coleman Dempsey; her grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Pere, Leigh Anne Dempsey, Alison Marie Stanley, and Jeffrey Coleman Carlyle; great-grandchildren, Auggie and Dempsey Pere, Garrett and Parker Cunningham, Philip ("Pip") Stanley, Theodore ("Teddy") Stanley, and Vivi Carlson.
Gladys was known for her infectious laugh, and joyful spirit. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Granny Great" and "Granny Laughs-a-lot," names that perfectly captured her warmth, humor, and love of family.
Gladys lived a fiercely independent life in the same home her husband built for 73 years in Louisville. In her later years, she moved to the lake, where she spent the past three years under the loving care of Bill and her daughter Marlene, surrounded by family and comfort.
