She was a former member of Holy family Church and a past president of the New Albany Marion Guild.
Helen was born to Virgil and Ada Lee Mills in Merrimac, Kentucky. She was raised by her grandparents, Preston and Fidelehelen Stamp on a dairy farm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Edith Able, Russell Mills, Granville Mills and Rosie Swihart.
Helen is survived by her husband, Elwood Summers, retired vice president of Jim Beam; son, Jerral (Trina), daughter, Deborah Clark (Steve) and three grandsons, Jonathon Clark (Liz), Nathan Summers and Christopher Summers.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017, 6 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville. Visitation is Tuesday from 12 pm until time of service. Helen will be entombed at Resthaven Memorial Park.
