Herbert M. Zimmerman

He was born on February 14, 1938, in Louisville, KY, to Herbert Zimmerman, Sr. and Muriel Warford.

He earned multiple Master degrees from UofL and was an Executive Administrator under four mayors for the City of Louisville. Herb retired from the U.S. Army, was a member of Amvets Post 61, a 50 year member of Boaz Masonic Lodge, a member of St. Matthews/PRP Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, Aahmed Grotto, Commander Legion of Honor of Kosair Shrine, Past Sovereign Red Cross of Constantine, and Past Pres. Sojourners. He belonged to various environmental and civic groups, was an instructor with Veritas, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the German-American Club.

Herb is survived by his former wife, Lilly Zimmerman; son Brian Zimmerman (Nora); grandson Thomas Zimmerman; brother Bruce Zimmerman, Sr. (Pat); cousin Judy Seidt; and nephew Bruce Zimmerman, Jr. (Patty).

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY 40218. A funeral service in Herb's honor will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
