Hollis Edward “Ed”, 90, returned to his heavenly father Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
He was born on June 30, 1922 in rural Pulaski Co. to the late Willie and Ada Mounce Vanhook. Ed served our country in the U. S. Navy, was a member of White Lily Baptist Church in Pulaski Co. but attended Walnut Street Baptist Church for many years. He is also a retiree of Humana in their maintenance department.
Five brothers have preceded him in death.
Left to carry on his memory are his wife, Roxie Dick VanHook; children, Joyce Dowdell and Danny Vanhook (Twila); grandchildren, Sabrina Noplis (Michael), Terri Dowdell, and Dawna Spencer (Todd); great grandchildren, Amber and Amanda Noplis, Tatum, Hayden and Emma Spencer; sisters, Imogene Hensley (Bob), Carlene Frye (Jerry), Jane Haynes, Sue Estep (Rick), and Lois Murray (Robert) ; along with brothers, Frank VanHook and James VanHook (Florence).
A service in honor of Ed will be 2pm Monday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8pm Sunday and noon until service time at the funeral home.
