Hugh Robert Smith

Mr. Smith was born on a farm in Franklin County, Kentucky in 1918 but lived most of his life in Louisville.

Hugh was a World War II Navy Veteran , an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Teamsters Local #189. He was also a member of Beechridge Baptist Church. He retired after a 36 year career at the Kroger Distribution Warehouse. Hugh was a person who enjoyed being with family and spending time outdoors, especially fishing or working in his yard and garden.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his brother Marvin Smith, sisters Gladys Goins and Loraine Hampton and a niece Mary Helen Goins. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Martin and Robin Witten (David) and his granddaughter Jessica Witten. He is also survived by several stepchildren, David and Paul Arnold, Rebecca Link and Rachel Edwards, along with step grandchildren Jamie Link, Hugh and Diana Arnold and nephews David and Larry Hampton.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday 12 noon at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 pm Sunday.

The family would like to request that memorial donations in Hugh's name be directed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
