Glenn Todd Jr. joined his wife Winnifred Grace Todd in Heaven on Saturday, August 29, 2015. A WWII Marine serving in the Pacific theatre, he lived the Marine Corps motto of “Semper Fi”. He was always faithful to his family, friends and God.
Glenn was born in Bradner, Ohio on November 21, 1924 to the late Ira Glenn Todd Sr. and Wreatha Schultz. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Winnifred, and seven siblings; Estella, Larry, Reed, Elbert, Cletus, Phyllis, and Mary Louise.
Glenn graduated from Bradner High School in 1942, went on to attend Oberlin College, and then graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education in 1950.
Glenn enlisted in the Marines in May 1943. As a proud Marine, he believed that whenever there was a chance to help someone, he would; it could be a neighbor, his church, Habitat for Humanity, or a mission trip to South America when he was 76 years of age.
Glenn was a voracious reader, especially of military history, and an avid coin collector. He also enjoyed woodworking, cross-stitching, and was devoted to his church activities.
He was a long time member of Florence United Methodist Church, serving as head usher, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and assisting his wife in preparing the sanctuary for worship.
His loving son I. Glenn Todd III and daughter-in-law, Lisa Todd survive him.
A Graveside Service will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY., September 10th, 2015 at 11 AM. There will be a luncheon to follow, celebrating Glenn’s life at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.
Gifts in his memory can be made to the mission fund of Florence United Methodist Church, 8585 Old Toll Road, Florence, KY 41042.
