

Morris, Jackie Leon, 83, of Louisville, passed away surrounded by family on January 23, 2018. Born April 29, 1934 in Olney, TX, Jack was the oldest son of Earl and Cleo Morris. He had 5 brothers and sisters. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Marilyn, his brother Gordon, his grandson Michael and former son-in-law Jim.
Jack is survived by his four children: Jan Durbin (Byron), Carla Morris, Lori Morris and Brad Morris (Lynn); as well as 6 grandchildren, Brittany, Lindsay, Taylor, Clayton, Christian and Quentin. Jack is also survived by his sisters, Jeanie Gleghorn (Dean), Lois Passmore (Corbett), Linda Smith (Ed) and brother Roy Morris.
Jack attended high school in Clayton, New Mexico and graduated in 1949 when he was 15. He then went to New Mexico A & M in Las Cruces, NM for two years before joining the military. After the Army, he attended the University of Arkansas where he graduated with a degree in engineering. He moved to Shelbyville, Indiana and began his lifetime career with The General Electric Company. There he met and married the love of his life, Marilyn Yarber. As he took on more responsibility with GE, Jack and Marilyn moved their family and lived in St. Louis, MO, Houston, TX, Hickory, NC and Louisville, KY throughout their lives.
Aside from providing for his family, Jack had many interests and accomplishments. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a Mason. He coached a grade school football team in Houston. His greatest hobby was the game of golf, and he and Marilyn were both excellent golfers. He was President of Hunting Creek Country Club, won several club championships and made lifelong friends during the 40 years he lived in Prospect, KY. He was also an avid U of L fan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 3 to 8 pm at the Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40222.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at10 am, at River Valley Christian Church, 12650 W. U.S. Hwy. 42, Prospect, KY 40059 with burial to follow, 1:30 pm, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 Dixie Highway, Radcliff, KY. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jack’s name online at www.alz.org or by check to the Alzheimer’s Association.
