He was born June 9, 1928 in Louisville, KY, the son of William and Bertha Landers Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
James was an active member Buechel Church of Christ and Portland Christian School and was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Cook; children, Ron Cook (Gail), Cathy Mills (Dale) and Steve Cook (Shelley); step-children, John Marcum (Joan) and Karen Satterlee; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Cook (Betty).
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday and from Noon until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
