My family and I thank you all very much for the warm condolences you posted here for the sudden death of my "little" brother Danny.  Mike, Bart, Ryan and I were comforted by your thoughtful words and funny memories of Danny. The memories gave us some good laughs at how consistently predictable he was over the years. He had a big heart and sometimes stubborn head, but loved living life to its fullest since he was a toddler. His death leaves me as the last of our Gleeson line, and my Wilson family will miss Dad, Mom, Cheryl and Danny always. Danny had so many friends over the seasons of his journey. For that I am eternally grateful.  His friendships were very special to him. God bless you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I was sad to hear of Danny's passing, and very sorry I was not able to make the visitation but Danny knows that a lot of his friends miss him and loved his easy going nature - My thoughts and prayers are with his sister and family.

Danny you were much too young to taken away from your family and friends. But they say only the good die young and you were  way too young. Thanks for the memories you have given us. Like the one were you and Kenny made the bet that you couldn't fit into your jersey from Male!!!! I will never forget that day you came walking through the gates with it on and Kenny lost the bet so you pulled out the speedo's out for him to wear!!!!!

Prayers for the Gleeson family. What a great guy! I played soccer with Danny at NKU and he was one of the first people I met and he made such a great impression on me as always having an infectious smile and great sense of humor. I coached against him years later and he was still the same great guy. I haven't seen him in years. Nothing I can say will ease the pain of a sudden loss like this. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

I wanted to add my condolences from the NKU Soccer Community and from me, Danny's Soccer coach at NKU.
When he first showed up at NKU, he fit the mold of a big target player for us. He played with power and strength.  He also played with  determination and joy.  He was everybody's friend. The greatest goal he scored was against Wright State University, a Division one school. We were a small NAIA /Division ll school at the time.  Danny received the ball up top, made a great move on their all-American center back, took off for the goal and buried a 30 yd blast past the WSU keeper. What a great goal!
The greatest memory of Danny was his relationship with his Mom and Dad, especially his Dad.  The Gleason's were the most generous people.  Generous with all things, but most importantly their love of Danny and his friends and teammates.  What a great example to us all!
His Dad was a true southern gentleman and his Mother a most lovely lady.
Everywhere we travelled, Mr. and Mrs. Gleason would be there faithfully cheering on Danny and his mates.
I pray for peace to you all  and thank you for lending Danny and his family to us at NKU.
One of the Ten Commandments was to "Honor thy Father and Mother"   That, Danny did.

Danny Gleeson  RIP  October 18, 2016

To Danny Gleeson's Family,

His Brothers from NKU are terribly saddened of the news of Danny's sudden passing.  We can't believe Danny is really gone, and can't imagine how you must be feeling right now with this great loss.  It seems like we're just too young for this? Just yesterday we were hanging out in the dorms and playing soccer at NKU.  It is amazing how time slips away!
  
We will miss Danny very much!   He had an infectious smile and laugh that would make anyone become an instant friend.  Playing soccer at NKU and going to Derby are some of our fondest memories of Danny.  He was a big cuddly bear and had a huge heart!  Some of our fondest memories were driving around with him in his yellow beetle bug and listening to rock and roll music while going up to visit our Jeanine machine.  Before going out on the town we would visit Jeanie (5th3rd teller machine) to withdraw money out for a night on the town bar hopping and dancing at Tomorrows or Mr. K's.  It was pretty cool when we were in college, anytime of the day or night, to get money from the magical Jeanie machine especially coming home late from a party and we wanted skyline or sliders!  

The first time we ever heard the word padiddle was driving home from Louisville with Danny and some friends after the Derby.  Danny shouts out, padiddle.  We were all like what did he just say?  padiddle  A game played while riding in a vehicle. 'Padiddle' is said when another vehicle is spotted that has only a single headlight. The person/people who didn't say padiddle must remove one article of clothing.  We never actually removed an article of clothing but it was fun and kept us up on late night travels back and forth from Louisville.  Another memory was when traveling to U of L or Bellermine for the weekend and we needed a place to stay.  Gleeson's were always accommodating especially for breakfast which is the most important meal of the day!  I can still smell Momma Gleeson's bacon cooking on the stove in their kitchen and southern grits.  First time I tasted grits!  MmmMamma good!  

Danny was a very good soccer player and was respected by his teammates for his hard shot and hard tackles but most of all for pushing us to run the two mile under twelve minutes.  See Danny didn't care much about being in shape.  He loved life and sports.  For those of us who knew him he loved playing basketball and soccer.  He liked to shoot and score!  However, Danny didn't like to run very much.  Rockwood, our coach at NKU had anyone who could not run the two mile in less than 12 minutes the first day of tryouts show up every morning at 6 AM until we made it under time.  By the end of the week Danny accomplished this task as well.  Every year after our freshman year we all made sure we were in shape for the 2 mile!!!


Danny had great parents and the apple didn't fall far from the tree.  His parents were good church going people and they loved the Cards!  Danny invited some of us to their family Baptist church once and I have to say for a Catholic that was an interesting experience.  Happy and Joyous singing and a good strong sermon!  I didn't know people were allowed to talk in church.  They were a happy joyful and loving family.  His dad and he shared a very special bond and they had a very close relationship.  They had this cool handshake which let us all know how special their bond was.  It meant much to us to see them so close.  I know he didn't like much his Dad and Mom hugging him in front of all of us in the dorms or after a game but we thought that was pretty cool.   They would literally travel anywhere to see the Cards play.  Momma and his Dad were avid Louisville Fans and that spilled over into Danny.  Man he loved the Cards!  We'll hold to these memories and so many others, knowing that they can bring us some small comfort in the face of this overwhelming grief.  We know the grief is exponentially greater for you, but I hope you can find some peace in your happy memories, too.

Danny was such a dear friend that I knew my whole life.  I sure will miss him!!!

My heart is in deep pain. I was in complete shock when I read this. My deepest heartfelt sympathy and love go out to Danny's family.  May God give you strength to carry on.

Danny a dear friend and never waivered from being a great one.  My heart felt sympathy to Terri, Mike, Ryan and Bart along with extended family/friends.  Life is a precious gift and Danny lived his life as that for sure and certainly will live eternally in this way too.  Thank you Danny for your friendship, unending love as a brother and grace in this life until we see each other again brother.
