

James “Jim” Wilson Moore, Jr. passed away March 31, 2026, after a valiant prolonged battle of two chronic and terminal illnesses. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky, on June 26, 1955, to Joyce Wallingford Moore and James Wilson Moore, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Ralph Emerson Wallingford, and Josephine Stewart Wallingford; sister, Perry Stewart Moore; daughter, Kaitlin Hunter Moore, and mother-in-law, Martha Abbott.
Jim attended Millersburg Military Academy, Kentucky Military Academy, and Mason County High School, Morehead University, University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville, and University of California Los Angeles.
Jim dabbled in many professions including accounting, management, and painting (both artistic and home-improvement). He was a culinary wizard and foodie, showing his love by sharing his delicious creations. He also was a loyal fan of the Bengals, Ravens, UCLA, and UofL as well as Lakeside Swim Club. He loved dogs, dancing, exploring, music (both listening and playing the guitar), nature, philosophy, and he especially loved being with family and friends, often quoting after: “A good time was had by all.”
During June 2025, Jim proudly was bestowed the honor of becoming a Kentucky Colonel.
Jim is survived by his wife, Alice Abbott-Moore; in-laws: Keith and Ann Lyons; Susan Abbott; Les Abbott; and Lyle and Tammy Abbott; along with many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his cousins, Doug Wallingford (Rick); Dave Wallingford (Liz); and dear friends: David Anderson; James Dockins (Saundra); Brock Daugherty (Susan); Hiroshi Kawamura (Kumiko); Timothy McDermott; and many others.
The family extends its gratitude and thanks to Ashutosh Barve, MD, PhD; Nathan Allen, PRN; Mark Esterle, MD; and many other personnel of the Baptist Health and UofL Health systems who helped Jim navigate his medical journey. Also, many thanks to the personnel of Nazareth Home for their loving care to Jim in his final days.
Visitation will be held on April 13 from 9:30 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2000 Douglass Blvd. The service will begin at 11:00 am.
