James E. Neason, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully March 30, 2025, surrounded by his wife and the family he dearly loved. Born on July 23, 1942, Jim was a long-time resident of Birmingham AL and Greenville SC. and later relocated to Louisville KY. Jim built a successful career as a mining executive who was known for his intelligence and effusive management style. He was most of all a devoted family man. He and his wife Theresa shared 56 years, creating a strong and loving foundation for their family. He was a proud father to Michael Neason (Wendy), Daniel Neason (Allison), and Susan Neason Toy (Chris) and a cherished grandfather to Joey, Andy, Katie, Ansley, Ryan, Dylan, Lucy Grace, and Ike, as well as great-grandchildren, Leo and John. He is also survived by his sister Kathyrn “ChiChi” Neason Adams and nieces Karen Adams Hodge, Kim Adams Ogorek, and Laura Adams Hernandez, as well as his ‘chosen family' Herk and Sue Turner and their children. The family will be forever grateful for the care and friendship Harmony Tucker Station and Hosparus health staff provided for Jim and his family. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories which will be celebrated at a later date.
