He was a retired employee of the C. Lee Cook Co. James was happiest when entertaining and playing music with his family and friends. He was part of several bands including the James Riggs Band, Kentucky Wind, and Kentucky Jam Old Time String Band. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Riggs Smith; grandchildren, Tyler and Hannah Smith; sisters, Judy Riggs and Rebecca Huber; a brother, Terry W. Riggs; and four nephews; and two nieces. A service to celebrate James' life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd., with burial to follow in the Campground Cemetery in Bonnieville, KY. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday.
