

SCHNURR, JAMES R., 77, of Louisville, a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, godfather and devoted catholic passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Baptist Hospital East with his loving family by his side.
Jim was born at home to Steve and Katherine Schnurr in Louisville on February 16, 1933. He was the third generation owner and partner of Julius Schnurr and Sons Plastering and Drywall. James was a founding member and was on the school board of St. Gabriel the Archangel and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Jim was also an Eagle Scout, a graduate of St. Xavier High School; and the first Scout Master of Troop 346 and past president of Happy Acres Swim Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lou Ann Seadler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty "Lovey" Golden Schnurr; children, Jamie (Teresa), Jennifer (Lee Kavanaugh) and John (Karen); siblings, Stephen J. Schnurr Sr. and Peggy Hamilton; his grandchildren, which were the light of his life, Nicole (James) Sims, Allison, Lauren and Andrew Schnurr.
His Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel, 5505 Bardstown Road, with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel the Archangel or Mass of the Air.
