He is preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Margaret A. Talley; and his cat, Church.
James is survived by his partner of 17 years, Michael Abernethy; two brothers, Joseph Dodson (Pat) and Ed Dodson (Kathy); sister, Mamie Murrell (Chuck); his cat, Dobbin and countless friends.
There will be a memorial visitation from 4-8pm on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway.
Cremation was chosen by the family.
The family requests no flowers and for memorial donations to be made to M. Krista Loyd Cancer Resource Center at James Brown Cancer Center.
