I am deeply saddened to just learn of Janell's passing. We worked together for years at KFC International. She always had such an infectious personality, smile and loving spirit. We danced many a night away during her single years. I never met her husband and son but can remember how proud she was of her family.  My deepest and heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all those who loved her.


Words cannot be found that adequately describe our shock and deep sadness when we learned of Janell's sudden passing. 

As everyone has experienced so well, Janell was indeed a special spirit with an ever-present gleaming smile on her face and in her eyes.  She always spoke with profound love, respect, and pride for you, Rick, and for Jonathan.

From her first baby days and throughout all of her life, we all knew she was the bright and beautiful jewel of the Lowe-Wilkins clan…and she embraced it as well, which was ever so charming.  Her selfless caring for everyone was genuine; always ready and willing to do more…and everything Janell did was always with an abundance of talent, intellect, energy, and confidence. 
 
Our dear Janell, may you rest in peace and enjoy eternal happiness in heaven. You will forever be loved and forever be remembered, and we pray that God's grace will give Rick and Jonathan, and all of the family comforting strength and consolation during this difficult time.

Janell, Janell, Janell.  My cousin, my friend, my partner in crime.  Didn't tell you often enough that I loved you.  That my heart has always been filled with the best of memories that can never be taken away: years of mischief, laughter, music, softball, sneeking into mamaw lowes house, riding our bikes across town to see David Bratton, wearing plastic wigs, buying matching outfits when we were in grade school and junior high, trick-or-treating and you somehow managing to stretch your candy to last from Halloween to Easter, you playing the piano and me singing and then me playing the piano and you singing, summers in the country, bonfires in the backyard at our house with Maria and Caroline, the talent show at Manual High School gone bad.  The list goes on and on.  I can't begin to capture them all here.  And no, I won't share that one crazy, crazy time we laugh about everytime we are together.  I miss you.  And I love you.  You have always been a fixture in my heart and life.  Though long stretches of time would pass between seeing you, we could always pick up as though no time had passed.  And we could and would always laugh with abandon.  Thank you for all the gifts you gave to all of us you loved and touched.   So glad we were able to reconnect and spend time together over the last couple of years.  I love you my crazy, sweet cousin and friend.  You are forever in my heart.

I'm numb and dumbfounded.  This just cannot be.  I still recall just a few years back my lovely and kind friend and next door neighbor scrubbing away on her front windows while tanning and enjoying a serenade by Tony Bennett that drifted from a small boom box.  When our family started shrinking she called every Thanksgiving to make sure we had plans, encouraging  us to join their party if not. One year she discovered my hubby had to work and rather than arguing with me she came bounding across our front lawns with 2 huge plates of yummy dinner.  That's my neighbor, that's my friend, that's a kind soul.  We knew we were there for each other if needed,  but both of us were the strong, independent type. Now I wish we'd bugged each other more and been a little less independent. I have a big empty hole in my heart and will sorely miss her always ready beautiful smile.  (Am I the only one who thought that smile resembled actress Marsha Mason?  Google Mason's pics). Our conversations on our shared concerns regarding our moms health drew us even closer. When I last spoke to her a couple of weeks ago the last words we shared were "I love you".   Always and forever my friend.  Rick, Jonathan, Chloe...whatever can we do..PLEASE let us! This is the time to let others do for you.

                     Oh I am still shocked.   This just doesn't seem real.  No matter how big of a hurry she was in, whenever she saw me she'd throw  up a hand,  flash that big smile and yell a "Hi-dee buddie!"  Most times she'd even stop for a quick catchup visit.  I know how much I'll miss her, and my wife, Marietta is just miserable with grief. The world needs more kind and thoughtful folks just like her.  Rick, Jonathan and Chloe no one can take away the pain. Time and Faith help, but let us help,too.  Call, Yell or hop over the fence.  We are here for you!

My memories of Janell began after the arrival of our new preacher and his family, The Hixenbaughs, when I was only 7 years old.  Janell (only 4 years old at the time) and her family, including brothers Kerry and Kevin, lived around the block from the church in Germantown, an old residential area of Louisville, KY.  From the time I can remember, we were always together, whether as a youth group or just a foursome.........Janell, Cinda, Marsha and me.  One time in particular, we were out "cruising" downtown Louisville, just the four of us, between Easter Sunrise service and our regular church service.  We were in my mom's Pontiac, which I was driving since I was the oldest of the four, and took a set of railroad tracks a little too fast and the next thing we know......we sound like a rumbling stock car racer because, yep........you guessed it........we lost the muffler.  So, like any group of silly, naïve teenaged girls, we stopped the car right in the middle of the road and out jumped Janell!!  The next thing you know, she's carrying a hot muffler in her hands and dumping it in the trunk!  I might add.......ALL of this mischief was done without even so much as a speck of dirt on her beautiful Easter dress!!  OMGoodness!!  Memories........loving memories.  Glad to have shared them with such a sweet, fun-loving, mischievous person.  I wish we had stayed as close as adults as we did when we were kids, but I will forever cherish those "People's Church" years and memories.  Celebrate life with Jesus, my friend, and I will see you soon!!  

The first memory starts at age 4 when we moved to Louisville and I met my forever friend....the little girl a block over.  We would grow up roaming the streets of Germantown finding ways of getting into trouble.  Sledding down the side of the church yard using my mother's metal popcorn balls as sleds.  Flooding the church parsonage by turning the bathroom into the first ever water park. It's amazing how much water you can play in when you are sliding in the tub and running the shower all at the same time!!!  Emerson.......Highland Jr. High.......coming of age and fighting over boys.....little league softball......church retreats and singing in the "angel choir".  As adults going on vacations together.......St. Augustine and Lake Oconee.  No one could make me laugh like Janell and she was always there for me in good and bad times to listen and give advise!!!  How can you be gone so young?? My heart is broken!!!  My only consolation is that you are in heaven with your heavenly father and hopefully My Father is showing you around.  

My deepest condolences to all of Janelle's family. I am in total disbelief and heartbroken to hear this news. I will fondly remember several years when Janelle and I were inseparable and having the time of our life. We lived together in New Albany Indiana along with my sister. Janelle and I spent my 21st birthday in Hawaii together which was one of the best memories ever. I loved her dearly and my heart goes out to all of you. With deepest sympathy, Maria Geftos Davidson. ❤

Janell Price is preceded in death by her father, Vernard Lee Lowe.
She is survived by her husband Richard D. Price, their son, Jonathan Richard Price, and step children, Kevin Scott Price and Courtney Kay Weck (Stephen), her mother, Iva M. Lowe, two brothers, Kerry Lowe (Debbie) and Kevin Lowe (Lisa), and her loyal friend, Chloe the dog.
