Jeanette Clarkson, age 95, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born June 26, 1929, in Louisville, the daughter of the late Norman and Theodora (Hohmann) Sauer.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Edward Clarkson; son, Ronald Edward Clarkson; and sisters, Emily Homeister, Mary Alice Christman and Isabella Randles. She is survived by her son, Daniel Clarkson; daughter, Judy Green (Larry); and daughter-in-law, Donna Clarkson, along with eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She worked at GE Appliance Park and retired after many years. She also was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
Jeanette and her husband, Charles, purchased a lake house, one of her greatest legacies, on Nolin Lake in 1994. She and her extended family spent countless weekends there playing cards, having fish fries, enjoying one another’s company, and going up and down the lake on their pontoon boat. The lake house was not only a second home to her grown children, but also to many of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren during the summers and is still with her family today.
Jeanette was never happier than when she was spending time with her family and friends. Their love for her also was evident during her surprise 90th birthday party at Claudia Sanders Dinner House. The room was filled to capacity. She was deeply touched.
Among the gifts she gave to those who knew her, was her sense of humor. Jeanette had a quick wit, loved to laugh, and was always in on the joke when she was being teased.
She had a sweet tooth, particularly for cherry pie, chocolates and licorice, and loved playing cards and going to bingo and the casino. She is the type of person you can’t think of without a smile coming to your face, which is wonderful lasting memory.
She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Jeanette’s niece, Brenda Homeister, who helped care for her during the later years of her life.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, on Thursday, April 24, from 5-8 p.m. and Friday, April 25, from 9-10 a.m. with funeral service and burial to follow.
