Jessie had a passion for education throughout her life. She began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Clay County before pursuing higher education at Tennessee Tech. Following her graduation, she taught at Celina High School, where destiny brought her together with Charles Richard Hord, Sr.
Jessie continued her teaching journey at Russellville, Southern and Fern Creek High Schools. Driven by her desire to guide and support young minds, she pursued her Master's in counseling, which allowed her to serve as a compassionate guidance counselor at Jeffersontown High School and Carrithers Middle School.
Aside from her remarkable career, Jessie's most cherished roles were as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles Richard Hord, Sr., her brother Marvin, and her sisters Claudine Brown and Helen Roberson.
Jessie's legacy lives on through her two sons, Charles and Allen Hord, her daughter-in-law, Terry Hord, her six grandchildren, Emily Hord, Jane Lyle Ghaelian, Charles Hord III, Cheryl Hord, Alexandra Hord, Juliet Hord, and Josephine Hord, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Charlie, and Leila Ghaelian.
Family and friends will gather to pay their final respects at a graveside service, which will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 24th, at 1 pm. The family also plans to organize a memorial service at a later date to honor Jessie's life and celebrate her lasting impact.
