Jocie Baize

Sister to nine siblings, mother to five sons, Mamma to eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and “Mom Baize” to the many she welcomed into her home, Jocie loved a full home, a swirl of activity, and the joy of being with others.

Though she never sought to be the center of attention, her spirit created a gravity that keeps her family close and pulled so many friends to her. She also created with her hands: making quilts, working in ceramics, sketching, and painting. Jocie loved deeply, forgave easily, laughed often, and smiled with her whole face.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Billy Gene Baize (2010), and is survived by her sister Jewel Young; her sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff (Carol), Kenneth (Rebecca), Timothy (Melisa), Brian (Kathy), and Jonathan (Cheri) Baize; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 10:00 am at Arch L. Heady at the Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be on Friday, August 1, from 4-8 pm.
