John L. "Jack" Ising, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. Born on July 24, 1948, to Frances and John L. "Lou" Ising, Sr., Jack's life was one marked by devotion to his family, a passion for his work, and an unwavering support for his beloved UofL Cardinals. He graduated Bishop David High School and Bellarmine College. He also served in the Army. Jack worked at Carman Industries for 39 years.
Jack was a loving husband to his wife of 51 years, Suzanne. Together, they raised three sons, John L. Ising, III (Tracy), Tony Ising (Michelle), and Timothy Ising (Carrie), instilling in them the values of family and hard work. Jack's role as a father was one he cherished deeply, but it was his transition to being a Papa that filled him with immense pride. His grandchildren, Jackson, Nathaniel, Olivia, Sophie, Clara, and Addison Ising, were the light of his life, and he relished every moment spent with them.
Jack's siblings, Michael Ising (Debbie), Kathy Voelker (Ed), and Nick Ising (Kathy), will remember him as a brother who was always there for them. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Judy Hulbert.
An avid UofL fan, Jack's enthusiasm for his team was infectious. He enjoyed taking his family on trips, creating memories that would last a lifetime. At home, he could often be found tinkering on his cars, a hobby that allowed him to share his knowledge and passion with his sons and grandchildren.
As we say goodbye to Jack, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the cherished moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the Lou and Francie Ising Scholarship at Holy Cross High School or the Crusade for Children.
