

John Robert (Bob) Lowry, beloved husband, father and grandfather was the sixth of seven children born to Thomas Patrick and Margaret Murto Lowry of Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. On June 19, 1952 he married the love of his life, Paula Beglen Meyer. He served as an Army commissioned officer in France. Together they raised three children, were married for 72 happy years and remained side by side until the very end. They were members of St John the Baptist parish (Fort Lauderdale, FL).
Bob was known for his dry sense of humor and quick wit. He had a passion for tennis and possessed a wicked slice. His greatest role by far was that of “Gramps” to his 5 grandchildren. He taught them how to build things, shared his gardening skills, read lots of books with them, always had treats in his pocket and consistently imparted his deep faith in God.
Most of his professional career was spent with Norton Company, headquartered in Worcester, MA. Bob lead by example with his excellent work ethic, love of family and devotion to his wife, Paula.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, as well as his eldest son, John Robert Lowry, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Lowry, son David Lowry (Meghan) and daughter Megan Lowry Sant (Keith); grandchildren Jenson Lowry, Devin Lowry, Will Lowry, Lindsay Sant Duncan and Bradley Sant; great grandchildren Ashley Duncan and Oliver Duncan.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:30am on Friday, September 27 at St Louis Bertrand Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Way, 515 W. Oak St, Louisville, KY 40203. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA.
